In August of 1900 Firestone Tire & Rubber company set up shop in Akron, Ohio. That was 121 years ago. Fast forward to today, Bridgestone Americas is an International company that makes much more than tires. The company’s International footprint includes 50 production facilities, with more than 55,000 employees around the world located in Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Mexico. Closer to home Bridgestone Americas opened its first giant off road radial tire plant in Aiken, South Carolina a few years ago. It was in Tennessee at a manufacturing facility in Morrison where Eddie Carter needed a helping hand in the form of a gear box. Piedmont Delivery Service loaded up the gearbox and arrived at the plant at 10:00pm. The problem was solved and yet another solution to a road well travelled.
