God Bless America

How are you spending the Fourth of July holiday? Hopefully you are taking a break today to be with family and friends enjoying fireworks, a parade or even some southern barbecue. Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

Here are a couple of trivia facts you may not know….

Some people think the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776 when in fact the delegates did not actually sign it until August 2, 1776.

And while John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were friendly rivals, both boasted they would outlive each other. The truth, both men died within hours of each other on July 4, 1826.

Our country was built on the ideals of democracy, liberty, freedom of assembly and religion.

As we take time to say Happy Birthday to America, all of us at Piedmont Delivery Service salute our veterans and celebrate how our country was established and has thrived since the early days of a new nation.

God Bless the United States of America and Happy Independence Day!
