A Picnic Without Baked Beans

Who can imagine a summer picnic without baked beans? I know, it’s a staple for the all American meal, hot dogs, hamburgers and of course baked beans. What you may not know is that the cans made to package some of those beans are made nearby in Tennessee. The cans for Bush Beans, for example, are made by Ball in its manufacturing facility in Dandridge, Tennessee. Ball has a rich history in providing metal packaging for beverages, foods and household products. The company dates back to the late 1800’s and employs more than 18 thousand people. When the line went down at the Tennessee plant, Michael Buccafurni at Ball Metal Food Containers realized the parts he needed were in Spartanburg, South Carolina. That’s where Piedmont Delivery Service stepped in and came to the rescue with a rush delivery to Tennessee. Michael was happy to get the line back up and running and we are all happy there’s no threat of a shortage of cans for our favorite summertime meal.

All my best,
