Historic Charleston Snowfall
As we welcome in the New Year, who would have guessed we would also welcome an historic snowfall in the Palmetto State. The Upstate region can expect an annual dusting each year, but it’s highly unusual to see more than five inches of snow in the Charleston region. Snow covered palm trees were a picturesque sight. Surfboards and yoga mats were quickly turned into sleds and the Holy City was shut down for this winter playground. Unfortunately ice covered many roadways and driving became treacherous along the interstates dotted with hundreds of accidents. A manufacturing company out of Greenville, SC, GVD, needed two large pallets delivered to Sumter, SC. Normally this would be a routine delivery of Piedmont Delivery Service, but with the winter weather walloping the Lowcountry, most businesses were closed. Our driver arrived at 3:00pm in Sumter to find the doors closed. Second shift arrived at 7:00pm so our driver waited until the second shift arrived. Emily Anderson of GVD was very appreciative our driver would wait four hours to make the delivery. Another example of the above and beyond service Piedmont Delivery Service provides daily to our customers. We call it The Piedmont Difference!
Wishing you the very best in 2018!
