A Handful of Sand
You may have heard the quote from Henry David Thoreau, “Time is like a handful of sand - the tighter you grasp it, the faster it runs through our fingers”. For U.S. Silica, sand is at their fingertips every day. Their Columbia, South Carolina plant is located in the “sandhills” of the Carolinas. These “sandhills” consist of high grade silica and the Columbia plant produces approximately 350,000 tons of high quality silica product per year. A circuit breaker is an important component for production, so when Joshua Christensen called Piedmont Delivery Service needing a new one, we dispatched our driver pronto, despite the fact it was 9:00pm on a Tuesday night. Our rush delivery to Columbia made it by midnight. Just another example of The Piedmont Difference!
