Velux is the market leader in the business of skylights and roof windows. The backstory to this-80-year-old company is remarkable. Velux founder Villum Kann Rasmussen learned from an early age the importance of fresh air and sunshine for a healthy soul and healthy body from his father, who was a pastor. The soon-to-be engineer was improvising in the midst of World War II with rations on building materials and came up with a “roof window.” The rest, they say, is history…..Today, Velux has claimed more than 2,000 patents and designs. One of their manufacturing facilities is in Greenwood, South Carolina. That’s where Jost Nettles reached out to Piedmont Delivery Service in a desperate need for a motor. The hot rush happened on a Tuesday night, and we drove up to the facility at 8:00 p.m. We call it The Piedmont Difference!
