Run for the Roses

It’s called the greatest two minutes in sports, and it’s held each year at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The Kentucky Derby is traditionally set for the first weekend in May, but this year has been postponed to the first weekend in September. The 146th running of the Kentucky Derby will be held Saturday, September 5th. The race is steeped with tradition, the Garland of Red Roses, Kentucky Derby hats for the women, and mint juleps for all. Bourbon is flowing freely along with betting. Kentucky is known for its Bourbon, and the official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby is Woodford Reserve, made by the same folks who are famous for Jack Daniels. That’s Brown-Forman in Louisville, Kentucky. It was here, Kenneth Williams needed a part and Piedmont Delivery Service was on its way to the Bluegrass state.
