Honoring Our Veterans

Today is the day we celebrate and honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. Did you know the federal holiday started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died and was originally called Armistice Day? It fell on November 11th because that is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. In 1954 the holiday was changed to Veterans Day to honor all Veterans. And here’s another fact you might not know…. There is no comma for Veterans Day - as it is not a day that belongs to Veterans, it is a day for honoring all Veterans. So take time today to say thank you to our Veterans, pay your respects to those who have served as we stand united in respect for you, our Veterans.
