If you were around in the 1960’s and ‘70’s you were most likely listening to Coca-Cola advertisements that have endured the test of time. Coca-Cola’s best known slogan came in 1969 with “It’s the Real Thing” and then in 1971 with its “I’d Like to Buy the World a Coke”..... You can probably sing the rest. One of the companies formed to manufacture soft drink containers, specifically Coca-Cola, has roots in the Carolinas. Southeastern Container was organized by a group of Coca-Cola bottlers. The Company’s first plant opened in 1982 in Enka, North Carolina, just outside of Asheville. In the 90’s they added a plant in Winchester, Virginia. It was here Matt Quintal needed a small part on a Friday afternoon. Piedmont Delivery Service made the trek to Virginia and arrived the same-day with the part in hand at 9:19pm. Perhaps it’s time to bring back “Buy The World a Coke” since it was designed to bring about a positive message of hope and love.
